I believe that there is always room for hope in the recovery process, in healing, and in striving towards being well
Hi! I’m Samantha
I’m a Maryland native, experienced Registered Dietitian, and snack enthusiast.
As a dietitian, I am most passionate about seeing people thrive and gain confidence as they cultivate a positive relationship with food and their body. I bring my values of compassion, curiosity and humor to my work, and strive to help others reduce guilt and shame, and embrace a full life.
It brings me joy to see others enjoy food peacefully and free from judgment as they nourish themselves in body, mind and spirit.
Outside of my professional work, you can find me baking, spending time with family, or enjoying the outdoors (mountains and beach).
Our mission is to support and empower individuals in healing their relationship with food and body in order to live a meaningful life.
Our values are hope, compassion, direct communication, empathy, professionalism, integrity, and inclusion
My approach to nutrition counseling is rooted in the values of listening, compassion – for self and others, and curiosity, while maintaining that big picture perspective.
It’s also based on the concept of weight inclusivity, meaning that there is respect for all bodies and personal lived experiences. This is not weight loss counseling, and weight is not a behavior to change or an indicator of health. Instead, the focus is on behaviors, and finding freedom and flexibility in eating rather than using rules and strict plans.
You know best. I’m not here to tell you exactly what to do and how to do it in five easy steps. If you’re looking for specific meal plans, or a dos and don’ts list of what to eat, you won’t find that here. My role is to guide you in decisions and behaviors that support and nourish you. We’ll experiment with what works best for you, increase your awareness of information from your body, and apply it all in realistic, sustainable ways.
Food is not moral, and judgments around food decrease our enjoyment and increase guilt and shame. This work opens the door for increased enjoyment of all foods, and the overall experience of eating. When we release the rules and judgments, there is an ease with food that empowers us.
